Romney Mitt, The Demon Barber of Wall Street

Most, if not all, readers of this site are familiar with the story of Mitt Romney's assault on a fellow prep school student due to Romney not approving of that student's style of hair and perceived sexual orientation; I think the story was first reported in the Washington Post in early May of this year. While Romney's schoolmates remembered this instance of his bullying--assault, really-- quite clearly, Mr. Romney did not remember the incident, although if anybody was hurt or offended by this "prank" that he couldn't possibly recall he would "obviously apologize for that".

In my opionion, this incident and others like it need to stay alive in the public mind in the final few months before the election, and music is an excellent way to keep these stories fresh. Let's journey below the Kos croissant for one rather brilliant attempt to do just that.

Satire is courtesy Roy Zimmerman, who co-wrote these lyrics with wife Melanie Harby. The tune is of course Stephen Sondheim, from Sweeny Todd. Roy and Melanie have been touring the country, determined to visit all 50 states in the run up to the November election. They've dubbed it their "Vote Republican 50.0 Tour", and while traveling are recording a verse for each state that pretty much skewers the GOP in a state-specific manner.

Mr. Zimmerman displays some extraordinary talent and I find this video hilarious but also chilling. It is all too easy to point and laugh at Romney and the Republicans, but as we all know, the guy is dangerous and there may just be enough of our fellow citizens who don't get that that he could conceivably be elected.
